About Portico St John's
Established in 2011, Portico St Johns received ‘OUTSTANDING’ in our latest Ofsted inspection. Situated in St John’s Children’s Centre, many of the families attending St Johns also attend sessions within the Centre.
We have 13 staff including our Early Years Teacher to support your child throughout their time at St John’s. The Staff are dedicated to providing your child with an exciting learning experience and plan activities tailor made for the individual child. Sessions such as ‘Tatty Bumpkin’ which is children’s yoga to support physical development through music and movement, ‘Doodle sticks’ to support early literacy skills and a daily ‘Talking tots’ session, supported by the children’s Centre speech and language therapist, to support communication skills, listening and attention.
We work closely with other professionals to support our families and we are well respected within the local community. The Staff nurture children through transitions within the setting, striving to make it a smooth and happy experience. Also, our links with local schools help us to support children and families when starting reception.
Our Local Offer - SEN
In September 2014 there were changes made to the law for children and young people with special educational needs and disabilities.
We have an updated SEN Code of Practice from the DfE (Department for Education)
The new law will result in some changes to the way you and your child receive help from your local council and ourselves.
